The oldest of five siblings, Olathe's mother died when she was fairly young. Her father attempted to raise her to be responsible, mature, and to take care of her younger siblings. He succeeded at none of them. Leslie raised the younger ones for the most part, and her father took Olathe working with him most of the time in some attempt, any attempt, to teach his wayward oldest child responsibility. Her sisters, skilled with crafts, always looked to Olathe to help them with small trinkets and baubles to sell, but Olathe was all thumbs at such tasks, and had no sense of colour. She excelled at school, when she managed to pay attention, but her father was not a wealthy man, and education was a luxury, not a future for her.

Olathe spent most of her teenage years helping out in small ways around, but skipping off to be found reading somewhere, or daydreaming, or telling stories to the younger children. She found a knack with small mechanical objects, and her father tenatively apprenticed her to a watchmaker. It was the first useable skill Olathe had ever found in herself, and she delighted in it's existence. But after only a few months of the apprenticeship, her testing day came.

Starry-eyed and spacy, Olathe is a daydreamer at heart. An escapist by nature, she's found a world she prefers in fairy tales, and not often does she descend from it. As alternating fancies take her, she can be an impatient tom-boy, or as well-spoken as a lady. She has a tendency to affect manners that conflict, though to her they are part of the Woman She Wants To Be. A magnanimous figure, a doer of deeds of glory, she sees in herself the potential to be the heroine of a tale. Or, perhaps, a dastardly villain. She's not reached a firm decision on the matter yet, and isn't likely to at any time. She'd much rather imagine heroic acts being performed than seek them herself.

She'd love to be the center of attention, a bold speaker who captivates everyone's ear, but she lacks the social graces to fill the spot. This does not, however, keep her from speaking frequently. She's fond of her own voice, and fancies that she is a bit of a storyteller herself. She is a procrastinator par none, and prone to slacking. When work is required of her, she can be usually found winding her way down some alley, reciting romantic poetry, or imagining some magnificent scene of knights and ladies and terrible evils.

Olathe prefers tales of women masquerading as knights, and loves to fancy that she might have it in her to be boyish, bold, and rough. It's her most favorite role to imagine herself in, and probably the most natural to her.

Olathe is rather tall for a girl, and quite pale. She has an absent-minded manner to her, and often stands with her toes pointed in. She's somewhat more athleticly built than first impressions would give off. Despite her troublesomely long hair, she's pretty in more of a boyish manner. People have long told her that her hair is her best feature, but she keeps it, feeling it makes her look more like a lady.
